BOTANICAL NAME: Brassica oleracea var. italica
Start seeds in flats or pots. Transplant seedlings 15" apart into well-dug and very well-composted soil. Like cooler weather and can take light frost. Assure very high fertility, adequate lime, and continuous moisture for best crop. During hot weather, use shade cloth or plant taller plants to the west so there is some shade in the afternoon. Stressed plants will not head properly. Matures in 8-9 weeks.
