We are delighted to offer these legendary broadforks as described in The Backyard Homestead. We use them in our gardens for quickly (and surprisingly easily) losening up established beds. This design is very ergonomic - using both hands and your body weight to rock back loosens the soil quite easily, and it isn't that much more effort to advance the fork for the next loosening.
The welder we use has had a modest business repairing broadforks-that-break-down that eventually break, and finally decided he should make one that would last. He spent months working with other master welders trying to make a broadfork that could be disassembled and shipped UPS, and there just doesn't seem to be any way to make a fork that is truly durable for the tasks it is called to do.
We do not like the extra expense and hassle of shipping these by truck, but what you get is a monster of a fork. It is made from special steel that has strength and toughness to last forever. This sort of tool is meant to be a community resource and has the strength and durability to fulfill this function.
We are taking orders for local master welders who custom make them and ship them by truck. All welded construction, built to last forever. Not for new ground. Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. 6 feet, 8 inches long by 29" wide.
