The most important factor for storing seed, homegrown or commercial, is dryness. Our kit contains one 8 oz. packet of silica gel (see description below) in a zip-lock bag (enough for 5-10 lb. of seed), 8 data keeping forms, and our Booklet 13, Growing To Seed, which gives specific instructions for saving seed. We store seed in jars from our kitchen (like mayonnaise or pickle jars), but the Mason jars that grocery markets still sell for home canning make an excellent, durable seal.
