SECTION: Herbs, Black Cumin, Nigella sativa
Annual. Common in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, this peppery spice is used to flavor naan bread and has a long history in Islamic medicine for stomach problems. Modern interest focuses on use as an antihistamine. Mentioned in the Bible as “fitches”. An Arab proverb says black cumin is a cure for everything except death. Looks like the other Nigella, Love-in-a-Mist, but white-flowered.
One packet will plant 60 sq ft when using 9" spacing in the bed.
