Plant broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, collards, kale, and kohlrabi about 3 months before first frost; carrots about 10 weeks; turnips and beets about 8 weeks. Plant spinach September for fall harvest and up to frost for an excellent early spring harvest. Spinach doesn't germinate well if soil temperature is above 85 F.
