BOTANICAL NAME: Chenopodium quinoa
DESCRIPTION:Early variety with big yields of seeds with very mild sweet flavor. The seeds are smaller than most, but are the whitest, of any variety we have trailed. They thresh and clean easily. Golden Rule garden found and grew this outstanding Chilean variety for us. Stands 5-6' tall. An excellent variety for beginners. With vivid fusia-pink seedheads (occassional green ones appear), this rare, beautiful, and productive quinoa is from Chile. Four to five foot plants have large yields of small seeds in the lightest color of any we carry and very mild-flavored. Matures well here, with a fairly short season and cool nights. Tasty with good biomass production for compost as well. Threshes and cleans well.
