GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Plant seeds in flats, or sow directly into the garden. Water frequently for best results. Leaves and stems may begin to be cut about 8 weeks after sowing. Plant can produce several cuttings. Loves heat and moisture; this is often grown in high summer to substitute for greens like spinach. The leaves are eaten raw in salads, where they add a lemony crunch, or cooked. Much used in soups, where it adds a thicker consistency.
