GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Start in flats or pots in very early spring, sowing in sucession through the season. Good for late summer/fall sowing. May also direct seed into any spot that opens up in the garden. Fertile, composted soil that is loose, not too acid, well-drained, and in good tilth with adequate nitrogen and moisture promotes fast growth for best flavor. In hot climates, lettuce for summer will do best if sited where its gets morning sun only (east side of a wall, shrub, tree, or taller crops). Or use shade cloth.
