Origanum vulgare hirtum
Greek oregano. The "pizza herb," classic in tomato and Italian dishes. Perennial that grows in any well-drained soil in full sun. Plant spring to mid-summer. Good in containers--spills gracefully over the edges, with many small white flowers that attract beneficial insects. Also nice dried, in wreaths and bouquets.
