Description: Heirloom (1885). Beautiful black and white flowers attract many beneficial insects. Plant will grow and set pods in temps from 40 to 70F, but not in hot weather. Plant very early spring or fall. Well-filled pods to 8''. Beans have a warm nutty flavor, meatier than lima beans. Eat like raw when young or shell and dry. Ready for eating green when pods point downwards. Edible leaves. Very disease resistant. Companions: celery, savory, strawberries.
CAUTION: a few people are violently allergic to favas, especially raw.
