We offer untreated, open-pollinated varieties that grow well in most climates. Excellent flavor. Corn does better if inter-planted with a nitrogen-fixing legume, like beans or a compost crop. A traditional combination we call the Three Sisters was corn, beans, and squash. Plant corn in blocks of at least 5 square feet in order to ensure adequate pollination. Because of its shallow roots, maize is susceptible to droughts and intolerant of nutrient-deficient soil. Also prone to be uprooted by severe winds
