BOTANICAL NAME: Melilotus alba
DESCRIPTION: This clover grows throughout the United States but drought resistant and winter hardy through USDA Zone 4. Here the clover grows wild along waterways. Its sweet fragrance can be found long before coming upon the plant itself.
Upright biennial often used for poor soils. Good bee plant or attractant for other beneficial insects. Takes a wide range of soils and climates, and will pierce through subsoil. pH 6.5 or higher. It can fix up to 125lbs of Nitrogen/acre.
Legumes grow best and produce more net nitrogen if inoculated with a special bacteria culture. See our Alfalfa & Clover Inoculant page for more information.
