Green beans are grown for their tasty young pods. Beans are nitrogen-fixing and improve the soil. (Inoculants will significantly increase the yield of nitrogen.) Plant when soil has warmed (70 degrees optimum, 60 minimum). Rotate location year to year. Average garden soil is fine, not too acid--pH 6.0 or more. Keep picked for continuous tender young pods. Overripe pods can be allowed to mature and eaten as dry beans.
We have many other specialty beans - Fava (Broad Bean), Garbanzo, Moth (Mat Bean, Mother Bean),Lima, Runner, and Soybeans (Edamame). Please refer to the specific listing for more detail.
